Joyful Spring Update
Oh I love Spring! I LOVE IT!!! I don’t think I’ve ever loved spring as much as I do this year, and I usually love it an awful lot. Before I make updates on anything else, I’ve got to post up some of my beautiful spring pictures. Things are blooming and being beautiful all over the place.
Oh I love springtime! I got a new mare not to long ago, her name was Cookie when I got her, but I don’t see how that can possible stick. Here she is in Morehead:
She’s a beautiful dappled chocolate color and she’s gaited to the gills. Now that she’s in Maysville with the rest of the girls, I’ve got somebody to ride all the time! I’ve taken her into the woods the last three days and the second day I had the sense to bring a camera! I’ve figured out why the creeks are so high. It’s because everybody’s drooling over the new flowers and all the runoff goes into the creeks.
There have also been a lot of other exciting things going on. I started dyeing the yarn I got from Ohio Valley Natural Fibers. It’s about 30 lbs of beautiful rambouillet 2-ply yarn that you can see here. It’s turning out really nice and knitting with it is a pleasure. I’ll post pictures when I get something finished.
There have been some exciting music festivals too. Hillbilly days was a few weeks ago and check it out:
That’s the face of a third place dance winner!
Merlefest happened as well, and I’ll have to make a special post just about that because there are so many pictures.
After Hillbilly Days some of us played for the chocolate festival in Old Washington. First me, Bird, and Jennifer played for the folks in Washington Hall and for the cake walk and then Karly came down and we played a set. All of a sudden, the lady who runs Washington Hall and asked us if we wanted to judge the chocolate dessert contest. I was stunned. “You want us to what the what?” “To JUDGE the WHAT?!?” So, needless to say, we had a wonderful time. Well, the first 2 or 3 desserts were wonderful, then I wanted to die of sugar overdose, but I think we did a good and fair job judging. Here’s a picture of the most beautiful of the treats:
Well that’s all for now! I have to try and graduate college this week, wish me luck!
