Painting and playing with babies
I’ve been keeping myself pretty busy working on the house and playing with my little babies. I took the plunge and bought paint colors. I got a minty green for the kitchen, a teal color for the dining room, a beautiful blue for the living room, and very pale lavender for my bedroom. I also decided to paint the stairs white. I don’t like them being black and white and I don’t have the patience or money to strip all the paint off. Here’s a picture of the blue room and the newly primed stairs:
Here’s the bedroom in progress:

I bought some fleece fabric to make a braided rug, it should go pretty quick with the fabric being so thick, and hopefully it’ll be warm and soft this winter!
Roanan is starting his mysterious transformation into some wild shade of roan. Looking at his back end and nose, he might end up blue. We’ll just have to see! Lily is giant and putting on weight and feather like a mad woman. The little baby (I’m playing with Willie Moore, so I’d have Willie and Lily) is doing really well, he runs a lot. He loves his mother and is starting to get curious about me. He might be nosing me within the next week. We’ll see!
Everybody except for Omie and the new baby are turned out in the back together. I kept a close eye to make sure nobody was going to abuse the babies, but everybody is getting along wonderfully!
Here’s Omie and the new baby (two weeks old today!):

The Buffalo Trace Balloon Race was last weekend. On saturday I went down with Harry Denham to be a part of the mounted patrol. We made sure nobody snuck in without paying. Nobody tried, it wasn’t all that interesting. But it was nice getting to ride and visit with Harry and Mary Ann, and it was really neat seeing the balloons.
I rode Cookie there, she did a great job with all the interesting things she saw. Harry rode her around a little bit and I snapped some pictures.
There’s been some horse swapping going on. Mary Hamilton has left the herd and Sierra’s little Thriller has got herself a place in it. Thriller is a precious little solid black filly out of Sierra’s mare Lovie, a chocolate mare, and a grullo stud Alliance Mountain Horses had called Bonsai. She was born the same day Michael Jackson died, Thriller is a very appropriate name!
Here’s Lovie:

I’m working hard getting ready for the KY State Fair too, I’ve got many, many entries in the textiles catergory. We’ll see how many I get done!
Fatten that little baby up! He’s beautiful but his little ribs stick out too much…he might blow away in a good wind. The blue paint is lovely and the white stairs will look nice. Please PLEASE have the wiring checked (and what about lead in the pipes???????)
