A New Baby! Joey Foaled!

Joey my gypsy horse was due to foal this week and I was sure hoping she’d do it before I have to leave for training at the Cowan Creek Mountain Music School tomorrow, but I really didn’t expect her to foal last night.  She wasn’t giving me any clues that she hadn’t been giving for [...]

June already?

I guess it’s June already and there’s nothing anybody can do about it!  I’m glad the bulk of the warm weather is ahead and winter is far away.
Joey and Liza are in the mommy pasture now up by the barn.  I’d say Joey will foal any day now, although by the calendar Liza ought to [...]

Joyful Spring Update

Oh I love Spring!   I LOVE IT!!!  I don’t think I’ve ever loved spring as much as I do this year, and I usually love it an awful lot.  Before I make updates on anything else, I’ve got to post up some of my beautiful spring pictures.  Things are blooming and being beautiful all over [...]

Goodbye winter!

So, I hear it’s the last of the cold weather, and spring is all over the place!  The grass is green (except in my fields, where the horses eat it all), the flowers are blooming, the trees are budding out and the flowering trees are all in their glory!  I love spring!  Spring is the [...]

Dyeing Fiber with Jacquard Acid Dyes

1. Preparing your dyes - I’ve never measured out dye or acid, just sort of gone about it all trial and error. I’ve taken pictures to show how much of stuff I use. In one of these little bottles, I put a 1/3 or 1/4 spoonful of dye and a spoon of citric acid powder. I fill the bottle to the top with warm water, put the cap back on, and shake it up.

Catching Up

Well, I suppose I have a wee bit of catching up to do. I made an attempt at it a couple months ago, but the internet where I live is absolutely terrible and I got too frustrated. The last post I wrote was about the farm plans, which depresses me to look at because I [...]

Lots of Progress

I just can’t believe I haven’t written. There’s so much to say now!

I’ve been meeting with David Barber from the Small Business Administration and working on a very in depth business plan. I finished my plan relatively quickly, I worked 12 hours on it one saturday, it got a little crazy in Fields Hall for [...]

Finally blogging!

I’ve been putting blogging off for quite a while, so I’m trying to get something down here so I’m not plagued by guilt.

A lot has happened since I last wrote. I’m now the proud mother of 3 kentucky mountain horses. First I bought two chocolate fillies that I couldn’t resist, they’re half sisters and [...]

Adios Dinero

I sure have been away from the old blog, and I’m ashamed of myself. What happened was that I let my journal get behind and I’m not allowed to blog if my journal isn’t up to date. So I’m all caught up and I have time to blog now. I’ve been up to lots of [...]

Finally blogging about music festival joys!

I’ve wanted to blog so many times, but blogging can only be my reward for keeping up with my written journal, which I haven’t been doing. I just finished today writing about the Clifftop music festival last weekend, or was it the weekend before?
The 2nd Morehead Fiddlers Convention went really well. I had a [...]
